Resolution 1988.01 Meaningful Liturgy
Whereas, CWL members often meet together to pray and to celebrate the Holy Eucharist; and
Whereas, The “…full, conscious, active participation” of all the people in liturgy is the aim to be considered above all else; and
Whereas, Liturgies should be the expression of the experience and the spirituality of women as well as men; therefore, be it
Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada, in 68th annual national convention assembled, recommends that each CWL council carefully prepare all liturgical celebrations well beforehand, planning for the active participation of all members, i.e. by means of acclamations, readings, psalms, hymn singing, etc. ensure that liturgies are relevant and adapted to the particular needs of participants pay particular attention to the use of inclusive language in the selection of hymns, prayers, petitions or other texts chosen for liturgical services.
