Resolution 1985.10 A Preferential Option for the Poor
Whereas, The Catholic Women’s League of Canada has been given a mandate by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops to be faithful to the gospel call and the teachings of the church and in the spirit of our motto ?For God and Canada;? and
Whereas, The constitution of the League unites its members in the promoting of the social teachings of the church and in contributing to the understanding and growth of religious freedom, social justice, peace and harmony, and the sanctity of human life; therefore, be it
Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women’s League of Canada, in 65th annual national convention assembled, adopt and promulgate a preferential option for the poor in order to be marked by an inseparable service of faith and justice; and, be it further
Resolved, That The Catholic Women’s League undertake a year-long commitment within the standing committees to promote the social teachings of the church in Canada and the universal church in order to implement a preferential option for the poor.
