Resolution 1962.06: Reading Material on Newsstands
Whereas, more than two and a half million copies of imported publications dealing with sex, vulgarity and violence are sold each month on newsstands in Canada and are found in Canadian homes; and
Whereas, this material has a disastrous effect on the minds and souls of all readers; and
Whereas, the Catholic Women’s League of Canada is pledged to give Christian leadership in forming public opinion; therefore, be it
Resolved, that we, the Catholic Women’s League of Canada in 42nd annual national convention assembled at Halifax, N.S., alert parents and educators to this situation; and, be it further
Resolved, that we continue to strive for better quality of reading material on newsstands and particularly in our homes.
