Opening Eucharistic Celebration – 104th Annual National Convention

Aug 16, 2024 | Conventions, In the News, Media, News Releases, Present Convention

Members were welcomed with hospitality and the golden prairie sunset at the Opening Eucharistic Celebration at the Cathedral of the Holy Family in Saskatoon for the 104th Annual National Convention. Speakers who brought greetings included Saskatchewan Provincial Spiritual Advisor, Father Francis Hengen, MLA for Saskatoon Churchill-Wildwood, Lisa Lambert, City Councillor for Ward 9, Bev Dubois, Saskatchewan State Deputy of the Knights of Columbus, Marte Nogot, and National President Shari Guinta.

National Spiritual Advisor, Bishop Wayne Lobsinger reminded us of the importance of faith during these times and affirmed the testimony “blessed art thou among women”.

The Celebrant, Most Reverend Mark A. Hagemoen, Bishop of Saskatoon shared during his homily about a recent 30 km marathon he completed where he learned that even when you are tired, your journey still must continue and you can find strength in God as Elijah did during his journey into the wilderness in 1 Kings 19:4-8. He found this strongly connected to the League’s national theme, “Here I am Lord, Send Me!”

Following the celebration was a wine and cheese reception, where laughter was shared and warm smiles were given as members got to re-connect and enjoy the start of the convention excitement!
