In 2023, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) issued four pastoral letters on reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. The “That We May Walk Together” series of letters are intended as a framework for local engagement with Indigenous peoples. They are the fruit of many months of listening, encounter and dialogue with them, through Listening Circles, an April 2022 Indigenous delegation to the Vatican, and Pope Francis’ apostolic voyage to Canada in July 2022 (CCCB).
Members are invited to unite in praying the “Prayer for Tolerance, Forgiveness, Reconciliation,” gifted by the Canadian Catholic Indigenous Council of the CCCB in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day.
