Monday, August 12th of the 104th Annual National Convention in Saskatoon began with a morning Eucharistic Celebration, with celebrant Most Reverend Albert LeGatt. In the homily, he assured that good will always triumph over evil, and if we want to experience the glory of God, then Jesus says we will. During the sign of peace, members happily exchanged greetings to their neighbours, with many embracing one another.

After mass, National President Shari Guinta shared an opening message acknowledging the new format of the convention which allows for more educational opportunities to be given, stating this is the first step of many bigs steps.

National Spiritual Advisor Bishop Lobsinger provided greetings and shared the meaning behind his coat of arms, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30). Another message that he wanted members to keep in mind for the next few days was, “mercy within mercy, within mercy”. He encouraged members to “show mercy so that He may increase”.

Members were then welcomed by women from organizations who share common goals to the League: Marlene Bodnar from Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League, Mary Nordick from Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada, Rosemarie Kingston from Anglican Church Women of Canada, Cathy Reid from Presbyterian Women’s Missionary Society, and Phyllis Robinson from United Church Women.
