Implementation Committee Update – November 2022

Sr. Susan Scott, Goal 2 Lead

In the discussions leading up to the release of the strategic plan in 2018, members across the country saw the importance of both ecumenical interactions with other Christian churches and interfaith interactions with non-Christians. Members tapped into the rich teachings of the Second Vatican Council’s decree on ecumenism, Unitatis Redintegratio. This document focuses on unity among Christians and highlights what binds the sister churches together versus how each church is different from one another. It encourages Christians to collaborate with all people of good will.

In what is now Year 4 of implementing the strategic plan, four women have volunteered to be the working group members who will bring to life the two strategies to:

  • · identify specific faith organizations with similar proposed core values and missions
  • · clarify the manner that collaboration will take place with other organizations.

By April 2023, the working group will have researched and identified these faith organizations. It will create a list of organizations with whom members and councils across Canada can collaborate and network on various projects and activities. In addition, the group will produce a short, motivational video that outlines the importance of this collaboration and networking.

Members are already involved in many ways with these other organizations, and the implementation committee hope that these products will make these activities easier to identify and increase the faith organizations with whom the League cooperates.
