Greetings from Prince Edward Island!
I was delighted to have the privilege of meeting chairpersons who were able to attend the Christian family life luncheon at the 95th annual national convention. We had a marvelous opportunity to exchange information with chairpersons at each level of the League. The chairpersons shared what challenges they faced and what was working well for them.
We learned that sharing information with one another and the next level solves problems. For example, one parish council chairperson celebrated the family with a parish pot luck supper. This was a great success. I encourage you to pick one activity you feel would benefit your parish council. Form a group and have fun! A great motto for families would be, “Encourage each other daily with one heart, one voice and one mission.”
I want to share “A Mother’s Prayer” given to members at the annual national convention. It is reprinted on the reverse of this memo.
May Our Lady of Good Counsel guide and protect us as we work with One Heart, One Voice, One Mission “For God and Canada.”

A Mother’s Prayer
Mary, most blessed of all mothers, pray for me that I may learn to love as you have loved your son Jesus.
Teach me how to abandon my will to God as you did at the Annunciation. Show me how to be of service as you did when you visited your cousin and helped her. Pray that I may be courageous as you were when your family traveled to Egypt in the dark of night, uncertain of many things. Most of all, teach me how to forgive those who wronged me in the way that you forgave those who crucified your son, Jesus Christ.
May I be the mother who can trust you, love others and who can surrender myself totally to God.
I make this prayer through your intercession, now and forever.
