Communique #2 – Organization
National President-Elect and Chairperson of Organization Shari Guinta, November 10, 2021.
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success” (Henry Ford).
Members have come through some very trying times. The global COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone, and it has made for some unique situations for meeting, praying and communicating. I applaud those of you who have taken up the challenge, stayed in touch with members, met in different ways and continued the work of the League. Bravo!
I encourage you to now reach out with direction and encouragement to your diocesan counterpart as councils begin to get “back to normal” and ask them to do the same with parish councils. The League is so incredibly needed in the parish and the community.
Councils need encouragement, direction, leadership and training. The planning strategically initiative has created many tools for councils and members to use. Please ask your diocesan counterpart to encourage members to check the national website often for updates and items that can be used to focus on faith, service and social justice.
- The National Sisterhood poster is a strong visual for councils at all levels to use. It can be downloaded and printed from the To Inspire page.
- Powerful Stories from Our First 100 Years and What’s Your CWL are inspiring videos confirming the work of the League over the last 100 plus years and messages from members detailing why they joined and what the League means to them. Use these clips in meetings, membership drives and on various media.
- Under the 600 Series: Manuals:
o Calendar of Social Justice Events (#622)
o Embracing Diversity: Tools for Councils’ Use (#623)
o Catholic Social Teaching Resources (#624)
o Care for God’s Creation Resources (#625)
I assure you the implementation committee and all working groups are working diligently to bring some amazing resources for councils and members to use.
