Dear League sisters and Bishop Jensen,

“… Everything always begins with grace, not with our own efforts—with the grace of God,
who is a Father and has given us so many good things,
entrusting different talents to each of us.
We possess a great wealth that depends not on what we possess but on what we are:
the life we have received, the good within us,
the indelible beauty God has given us by making us in His image…
All these things make each of us precious in His eyes,
each one of us is priceless and unique in history!
This is how God looks at us, how God feels towards us.”
(Pope Francis, November 2020)

The Catholic Register would like to produce a feature editorial or a magazine to showcase the League’s history and future as a celebration of the 100th anniversary. The publication’s size (editorial or magazine) will largely depend on the number of advertisements The Catholic Register is able to sell. The newspaper has a list of companies including all the various dioceses its staff would contact seeking advertisements. There would be no cost to the League for this initiative.

The production would include photographs and articles highlighting the past, present and vision for the future. The newspaper has asked for the names of prospective members to be interviewed to tell their League stories. The newspaper’s staff will do the interviewing and writing of the stories. Potential story ideas can include profiles of members, interesting activities and more. There will be no guarantee that all the information they receive will be published.

Therefore I am reaching out to seek your assistance in the following ways:

  1. Awareness: This is an excellent opportunity to showcase the League. Please share this information with clergy, Knights of Columbus and any other organizations that may be interested in purchasing an advertisement. Kindly share with your diocesan counterparts and ask them to do the same. If you are aware of other organizations that might be interested as well, please provide me with contact information and I will forward it to The Catholic Register. If there are queries regarding the advertisement prices, Ad Manager Nicole Gomes may be contacted at gnomes@catholicregister.org.
  2. Please identify prospective members who have and are willing to share awesome stories of their experiences through their League journey. Once you have received their permission, kindly forward their names, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers to me. Once The Catholic Register is ready to interview, I will contact these members via e-mail to advise that the newspaper’s staff will contact them.
  3. As members are proud women of faith, let us do all we can to showcase the League’s story to all of Canada.

As the production will be an editorial, the League would not have access to review a proof prior to publication; however, the newspaper’s goal is to celebrate and appreciate the organization and its mission. The piece will be circulated in all copies of The Catholic Register with additional copies made available to members and councils to purchase if they wish.

“Wonderful Things: God has wonderful things in mind for you.
If you ask, He’ll show you what gifts He’s given you and
how He wants you to bless others with them.
Don’t wait until eternity to experience the joys and delights of faith—
share some of that good news today!”
(Pamela McQuade, Whispers of Encouragement)

Thank you for all you are doing, and keep up the great work. I pray you will have a blessed Holy Week followed by a joyous Easter season!

May Our Lady of Good Counsel guide us always, as together we work “For God and Canada.”

Love and prayers,

Doreen Gowans
