Communique #12 – Communications
National Chairperson of Communications Doreen Gowans, May 8, 2020.
Dear members and Bishop Jensen,
The Canadian League Magazine: To help celebrate the League’s 100th anniversary, the fall issue of The Canadian League will be devoted to the centenary. Therefore, I am sending you a special request to submit an article that pertains to your position but looks back to reflect on history and how it would have looked 100 years ago. For example, what were some of the old resolutions that were worked on? Is there any information on the archived resolutions on the national website? The League was formed with immigrants playing a great part—what did they face 100 years ago? What were the important topics of the day, and do they exist today? How did members make a difference? You may want to seek assistance from honorary life or life members as well as more senior members edlekarna.com. On the national website you will find a 1990-2005 supplement to League history, Companions on the Journey, which may help in your research.
Provincial Presidents: Please share a brief history of the League in your provincial council or have a member write a short article about how she joined and what it has meant to her as she journeyed with the League.
National Officers and Standing Committee Chairpersons: Is there something in your position that could be focussed on that relates to 100 years ago, and are those same matters faced today?
Deadline date for submission is July 15th
Length: 500-750 words
I am reaching out seeking your assistance and commitment as there may be a lack of information for the fall issue. With no convention, there will be no oral reports or convention highlights. I pray you will be able to help with this project. Please advise if you plan to send in an article. If there is an abundance of articles, the magazine committee will choose the best of the best for inclusion in the fall issue.
God bless you, and may Our Lady of Good Counsel guide us as we work together to be the best communication team for and about the League.
Love and prayers,
National Chairperson of Communications
