Dear sisters in the League,

At the start of her term, past National Chairperson of Legislation Betty Colaneri (2018-2021) set a goal to develop a legislation workshop in response to members’ requests for a resource to aid their understanding of the Canadian legislative process.

Enclosed with this communique are the fruits of Betty’s endeavours—an introductory letter and a PowerPoint presentation. The letter explains the context of the workshop content, includes a prayer for social justice and has suggestions for implementation. The PowerPoint presentation brings historical highlights and the complexity of the Canadian parliamentary process to the forefront of understanding in a creative and comprehensive way. Please encourage your diocesan counterparts to share this incredible resource with parish councils.

We are blessed to have this opportunity to enhance members’ understanding of the enactment of laws in this nation and build engagement in the legislative process as Catholic women. If there are any questions or need for clarification, do not hesitate to connect with me.

Thank you for supporting this vital work of the League.

May Our Lady of Good Counsel pray for us as the League grows as a national voice for legislation that serves the people of Canada in a true and just manner.

Glenda Carson
