Aug 28, 2024 | Conventions, In the News, Media, News Releases, Present Convention

During the Voluntary Fund Presentation at the 104th Annual National Convention, members got to hear from a representative from each of the organizations that the League supports.

Eileen Alma from Coady Institute spoke how they strive to collaborate with communities for a “hand up” approach instead of “hand-out” approach, involving co-learning and respect.

Brenda Arakaza from Development and Peace – Caritas Canada shared details about their life-saving work in the most vulnerable regions of the world, such as the new 1% Program which has generated 40 hectares of forest and their impact on women to become peace builders.

Joe Gennaro from Catholic Missions In Canada shared insights on how they help to promote and extend the Catholic faith in dioceses experiencing insufficient funds by subsiding bishops who do not have enough resources to sustain their own territories.

Dr. Adriana Bara from CNEWA Canada explained their purpose to work where Christianity was born in the Holy Land, such as funding a mother and baby hospital program in Jerusalem, and Monseigneur Peter Vaccari shared his experience from a recent visit to Beirut, Lebanon.

Finally, members learned from Linda Dudar from Catholic Women’s Leadership Foundation about their program where women can apply to go on a journey of spiritual mentorship.
