Rights and Responsibilities

Through the implementation committee, the League is pleased to provide members with the document, Rights and Responsibilities on Catholic social teaching. Every person has a fundamental right to life and a right to those things required for human decency, and along with these rights are duties and responsibilities. This document includes a comprehensive list of rights and other resources (i.e., books, quotes from church documents and teachings, films, organizations, papal documents and scripture quotes). In addition, each section includes links or references for further consideration. Those included in Prophets Among Us stood up for the rights and responsibilities that inspire Christians today.

In Pope John XXIII’s encyclical, Pacem in Terris, he asserts that “the human person is entitled to civil, political, social and economic rights—’universal’ rights, including the right to life, bodily integrity, food, clothing, shelter, rest, medical care and an education.” The document can be found under the 600 Series: Manuals.
