National Strategy for ArthritisWhereas, Treatment of arthritis currently costs Canadian taxpayers $17.8 billion annually; and
Whereas, The number of people with arthritis is expected to rise dramatically in coming years; therefore, be it
Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada, in 81st annual national convention assembled, urge the federal government to develop, in consultation with the provincial/territorial governments, a national strategy for enhancing services, including provision of prompt and equal access to improved and affordable drug therapies, for people with arthritis.
Detailed Action Plan
- Write the federal, provincial, territorial ministers of health urging them to establish a national strategy.
- Invite local speakers from health departments, Arthritis Society, doctors and personal experiences.
- Become aware of effects of arthritis, needs of people with arthritis and possible prevention measures.
