Our Lady of Guadalupe - Mother and Evangelizer of America

Whereas, The message of Pope John Paul II for America on the threshold of the third millennium of Christianity is contained in his apostolic exhortation entitled Ecclesia in America, and

Whereas, The pope has affirmed the proposal of the 1997 Special Assembly for America of the Synod of Bishops to invoke and celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe as Mother and Evangelizer of America on December 12th, and

Whereas, Pope John Paul II has called the western world to a new evangelization under the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, therefore be it

Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada in 80th annual national convention assembled, encourage members to

1. respond to the call by Pope John Paul II for a new evangelization by studying the apostolic exhortation Ecclesia in America or the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) summary Living the Gospel in the New Millennium.
2. honour Our Lady of Guadalupe as Mother and Evangelizer of America by learning about the Guadalupe apparitions.

Detailed Action Plan

• Invite a knowledgeable speaker to address the apostolic exhortation Ecclesia in America.
• Study the CCCB summary Living the Gospel in the New Millennium.
• Prepare a spiritual reflection on Our Lady of Guadalupe.
• Become aware of events, apparitions and miracles of Guadalupe.
• Celebrate our Lady as Mother and Evangelizer of America.
