Resolution - 88.01
Meaningful Liturgy
Whereas, CWL members often meet together to pray and to celebrate the Holy Eucharist; and
Whereas, The "...full, conscious, active participation" of all the people in liturgy is the aim to be considered above all else; and
Whereas, Liturgies should be the expression of the experience and the spirituality of women as well as men; therefore, be it
Resolved, That the national council of The Catholic Women's League of Canada, in 68th annual national convention assembled, recommends that each CWL council
- carefully prepare all liturgical celebrations well beforehand, planning for the active participation of all members, i.e. by means of acclamations, readings, psalms, hymn singing, etc.
- ensure that liturgies are relevant and adapted to the particular needs of participants
- pay particular attention to the use of inclusive language in the selection of hymns, prayers, petitions or other texts chosen for liturgical services.
